ZIERER Delivers Minifigure Speedway Duelling Coaster at Legoland Billund

German ride manufacturer ZIERER has formally announced the launch of Minifigure Speedway at Legoland Billund Resort in Denmark, a project described as one of the park’s largest investments in recent years and a significant new chapter in ZIERER’s growing relationship with Merlin Entertainments.

The ride, a Dueling Reverse Coaster, began welcoming visitors at the start of the 2026 season and follows the 2024 debut of the same family coaster concept at Legoland Windsor Resort. The installation underlines a growing procurement trend among major theme park operators: taking a proven ride concept from one park and adapting it for deployment across multiple sites within the same portfolio.

From an engineering standpoint, the project underscores ZIERER’s expertise in space-optimised coaster systems built for family-oriented parks, with the design combining high operational reliability, smooth ride dynamics, and maximised throughput, all integrated into the LEGO storytelling universe. The park’s project manager noted that ZIERER’s close involvement during both the design phase and on-site installation made the overall delivery process significantly smoother, a reminder that supplier support during commissioning is as commercially important as the hardware itself.

The attraction features two parallel tracks themed around competing teams, a dual narrative structure that gives riders agency in their experience and encourages repeat visits, a key consideration for family park operators focused on extending dwell time and per-capita spend. A nine-metre-tall Minifigure of the fictional racer Roxie stands at the ride entrance, serving both as a landmark visible from Billund Airport and a major photo opportunity for guests.

For ZIERER, the Billund project further strengthens its long-standing collaboration with Merlin Entertainments, one of the world’s largest theme park operators, and signals the kind of repeat supplier relationships that drive sustained growth in the ride manufacturing sector.
